A traditional single player Mahjong game has 144 tiles. They are arranged in various layouts so that they faces are upwards. Tiles are considered exposed when there are no tiles above them and there are no tiles blocking them either from their left or their right side.
The goal of Mahjong is to remove all the tiles from the board. There is only one way to remove tiles and that is to match two identical tiles that are exposed. Once you locate two tiles that can be removed - click on each tile of the pair they will disappear from the board.
You need to remove one pair at a time and you should do it carefully. If you get to a situation where all the pairs are blocked you will lose the game.
The best way to get ahead in Mahjong is to make sure you remove pairs that will open up as many unblocked tiles as possible. Don't remove the obvious pairs you see upfront, think ahead and try matching tiles that will make more possibilities and more pairing available for future moves.
Traditional Mahjong tiles are organized in sets - Charactes, Bamboos, Circles, Dragons, Winds, Season and Flowers. On most cases you need to match identical tiles except for Seasons and Flowers where you can match any pair of the same set.
